We are excited by what our plans will mean for patients, and the type of modern healthcare our new hospital will be able to offer.

New clinical spaces mean we can care for more people and meet increasing health needs.

We will deliver:

  • New operating theatres to meet growing demand and to keep waiting times low
  • A new, larger intensive care unit (ICU) to treat more people with complex needs locally
  • Increased numbers of MRI and CT scanners for faster diagnoses and earlier treatment
  • A new maternity department with dedicated theatres and better privacy in single rooms
  • A new high dependency unit to carry out more procedures locally and free-up ICU space
  • An improved endoscopy department to deliver more appointments
  • 100% single occupancy rooms in new acute care blocks to improve patient experience.

Improving accommodation and wellbeing facilities for staff will also boost recruitment and retention levels, which is crucial to delivering a sustainable service into the future. We will also be able to provide more training, research and career development opportunities to staff once we have upgraded our clinical services.
